It’s tab time again!
“Here Goes Nothing” is a fairly droney album, and as we move into “the peoples’ key” of G, you’ll see that thread continuing:
B——–3——–3——–3——–3——-1——-3—
Tiny little choices make the sound of this song change from verse to chorus. In the verses, I am using a pattern that maintains the G and D notes on the 1st and 2nd strings, only deviating when I play an open D chord, and even then I trill from the F# back to the G. In the chorus, when I play a C chord, it’s the one I prefer, which adds a G in the bass. I also tend to prefer the G that adds the D on the 2nd string — if you’re playing the basic G, you’ll hear the difference. Learn the four-fingered open version — it’s worth it!
Also, at the end of the chorus, I play a funky version of D which you get by moving that C form up two frets, no barring involved, leaving the G and high E strings open.
