She said yes!

Yesterday, I used this video to propose to my beloved, and she said yes! Thank you to everybody who wished us well yesterday.

It was the anniversary of our first date as well, so she gave me a fun bunch of anniversary presents, which I’ll post visuals for as soon as I have them:

photo 1A beautiful handmade (purchased, not crafted) card, with a paper-pastiche of a sweet elderly couple on a park bench from behind. If I had any doubts that she was into marrying me, well, that’ll kick ’em out!

A dinner at Hakata Tonton, one of the most popular Japanese spots in the West Village. Great food, closely managed shabu-shabu, kickass table service. They even gave us a dessert course, matched with sweet sake, as a congratulations gift for our engagement!

Tickets to Kanye West’s show at Barclays, which anyone in the know will tell you is the perfect ticket if you truly are a person who “loves the sound of A Tribe Called Quest/but all they’ve got left is this kid named West,” because Tribe is going to be doing their last (if it sticks) performance there! I never got to see them live when they were in vogue, but their albums are in constant spin on my devices (“Buggin’ Out” was my alarm ring for the last three months, it is now “Cry” by Ennui), and the documentary on their careers and lives, “Beats, Rhymes, and Life,” is unmissable. As is this shirt, or this one.

Watch the video now!If you haven’t seen the video yet, please click the link above or on the front page, and enjoy it! I’m asking everybody to share it on Monday, so we can try to take it to another place, exposure-wise, and get some more eyes on the project. If you’d like to get reminders from me, just
